Industrial Chemist – Laboratory and Process Development
We are seeking a skilled Chemist to join our U.S. operations. This role combines hands-on laboratory analysis, process optimization, and close international collaboration in a manufacturing environment. You will play a key role in advancing automation, improving chemical processes, and ensuring regulatory compliance—while working in close cooperation with our global Chemistry team in Austria.
What You’ll Do:- Conduct chemical analyses of pretreatment baths and zinc alloys using AAS, OES, volumetric analysis, and other classical methods.
- Develop and implement automation strategies for laboratory processes.
- Manage and contribute to projects, including laboratory construction and upgrades.
- Oversee regulatory processes related to chemical process engineering.
- Support U.S.-based ZINKPOWER sites through process optimization and development of environmentally friendly closed-loop systems.
- Work in very close cooperation with the global Chemistry team in Austria to align with international standards and innovations.
- Reporting to the global Chemistry manager and to the Business Area Manager U.S.
- Design and deliver comprehensive analytical testing solutions tailored to ZINKPOWER standards.
To excel in this role, you’ll need:
- A degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline (higher qualifications are advantageous).
- 2+ years of laboratory or process engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting preferred.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements in chemical process operations.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work across cultures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel, including international trips to e.g. Austria for training.
- Self-motivated, hands-on, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
Desirable Skills and Experience:
- Good command in additional languages (e.g., Spanish).
- Experience with hot-dip galvanizing, coating, or other surface finishing technologies.
- Familiarity with international chemical regulations and standards.
- Knowledge of laboratory automation equipment and methods.
- Strong project management skills and ability to coordinate across multiple sites.
- Competitive salary of $ 80,000 - $ 84,000, based on experience and qualifications, plus benefits.
